CHARLOTTE RUNNING CLUB
Get a (Social) Life!

Emily Barrett is the Charlotte Running Club's Social Queen; Lauren Robbins and Tonya Taylor make up the committee; and a big thank-you to them for taking on this job.

Embarrassing photographs of club members are always welcome here...

Past Activities

June
On Thursday June 3, come along to the CRC Social-and-Fundraiser at the Dilworth Neighborhood Grill, 6:00 - 9:00 pm.  For $15, you'll get food and drink and a chance to bid at auction for USATF gear signed by Olympic track and field athletes.  Proceeds benefit CRC's developmental and operational expenses, as well as helping Queen's University to buy an Alter-G Treadmill.  Contact Jenna Wrieden, wriedenj@queens.edu.

April
Better brush up on your spaghetti-twirling skills, because it's pasta-party time again! As we do every third Friday of the month, we’ll gather at the Thomason House. Pasta is provided, but feel free to bring a dish to pass and a beverage of choice. All club members are invited, and there will be plenty of pasta and delicious sauce to go around. This is a great way to fuel up for the Elizabeth 8k, the Run for the Money or the Boston Marathon for those of you headed to the Northeast. It’s also a great way to meet new club members and find new running partners. We hope to see you there!

March

If you missed the last Charlotte Running Club Social, now is the time to redeem yourself!  The CRC Social Committee has been working with Dilworh Neighborhood Grill and we are excited to announce there will be another social this Saturday night, March 20th!  The party starts at 7pm at the DNG on the Corner of Morehead St. and Dilworth Road. We’ll collect $10 at the door for an endless buffet of heavy appetizers.  Drinks will be separate. This is not a “club-only” event. Bring friends, bring family. For those of you who are out of town for one of the many races this weekend (Atlanta, Virginia Beach, Tobacco Road), never fear. Our social committee is always working (especially since Social Chair Rebecca Thomason is nursing two clubbed feet). As always, if you have any suggestions, email us.

February

Smooching at the second Charlotte Running Club Pasta Party on Friday February 19th ...

... while the chili-and-Guinness post-Homecoming-5k session on the 20th went well, except that my recycling bin is a bit ... embarrassing ... this week, as it contains industrial quantities of Guinness cans and bean cans.

January

Carb-loading for a good cause - what's not to like?
The Saturday morning (January 23rd) coffee/bagel social at Owen's was a win-win situation.  There was a long line to order delicious bagels and coffee, which was great as all profits were donated to earthquake Relief in Haiti.  (The maple-syrup-and-walnut-cream-cheese-on-cinnamon-and-raisin-bagel was FABULOUS.  Just sayin'.)

Light-saber duel at the first 87-pounds-of-meat-sauce* pasta party at Rebecca's, on Friday January 15th.
